Good morning! I got an e-mail from a student this morning asking when I would be back; I am thinking most likely late next week. I heard from Mrs. Snyder that Mrs. Haverkamp wasn't with you yesterday; I will check with Ms. Julie in the office to find out if she changed her start date because she was supposed to begin with you yesterday. If I find out anything, I will let you know. Remember, the sub is there primarily to take attendance and help you if you have any major problems -- you all are old enough to hold jobs and drive, so I'm trusting that you are capable of understanding and following my instructions for you no matter who is in the room with you each day. You are normally pretty awesome for subs, so I am keeping faith in your abilities. It means a lot that I am able to take care of my husband without worrying too much that you guys are okay. :) Remember, you can always e-mail me or comment on my blog posts if you have questions about the assignments! :)
For those of you currently in ACT Prep Reading: Mrs. Snyder is trying her very best with the lesson plans I left for her. Please don't worry; I will go over the main points when I return just to make sure that nothing important was missed. :) Remember, that class is Credit/No Credit; you can only miss one assignment in the reading rotation, so if you're absent, make sure you ask Mrs. Snyder for things to make up so that you don't fail the class due to missing work. Also, check with your other ACT Prep teachers to make sure you got credit for their rotations so that there are no surprises when report cards come out in a few weeks. You can still make up things for them, I think. I will be adjusting your To Do lists for English 11B each day this week; feel free to compare what I wrote below and make changes in your "workbook" To Do Lists so that you know what you need to have accomplished for each day in order to stay on track. For TODAY (Wednesday) 1. Do warm-up questions #31-40 (yup, 10 questions!). Check the answers with the sub. 2. Listen to The Call of the Wild and follow along in your Kindles. (Chapter Four) --> You will need to have the sub play CD #2. Please listen to Tracks #24-50 as a whole class and follow along in your Kindles. --> Remember, it is each class' responsibility to keep the Kindles charged. If your Kindle is running out of battery life, make sure it gets plugged back in when you are done reading. Any Kindle that is showing a green light when it is plugged in is fully charged; you can switch the power supply cord from any fully-charged Kindle to one that needs to be charged. --> Keep the laptops plugged in when you're not using them as well! 3. Complete the activities in your "workbook" (vocabulary - please use Learner's Dictionary; sequence of events, character definitions and quality of life chart, plus one P.E.A.). 4. ADD IN: Do question #3 that was on the page for Tuesday, February 17. Keep in mind that it is a PEA and you will need evidence from the text. 5. CROSS OFF the Cornell notes pages for Tuesday, February 17. I'll get you caught up on notes tomorrow. If you are behind on assignments or would like a digital copy of the novel to use when finishing work, click here. Check back for my post tomorrow with your updated schedule for Wednesday! :)
